Our Service to the Sick
Our mission evolved to address the critical health needs of the region. Through the establishment of hospitals and leprosariums, we provided not just medical treatment, but a sanctuary of dignity and love for those often forgotten by society. Our sisters worked tirelessly, bridging the gap between clinical care and spiritual support, ensuring that every individual felt the touch of God's grace during their time of suffering.

Our Mission in Myanmar

Kemandire – Rangoon
The story of our mission in Myanmar begins in Kemandire, Rangoon. It was here that the first seeds of compassion were sown, establishing a foundation built on faith and a deep commitment to the local community. The early days were marked by a profound sense of purpose as our sisters integrated into the life of the city, seeking to serve where the need was greatest.

A Mission of Love
The core of our presence remained simple: love in action. Whether it was through education, social work, or daily companionship, the goal was always to reveal the face of Christ. This mission of love transcended barriers of culture and language, creating a lasting bond between the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary and the people of Myanmar that continues to inspire our global community today.
Leaving Myanmar
Circumstances eventually required a physical departure from the land we had grown to love so deeply. Leaving Myanmar was not an end, but a transformation of our presence. The departure was marked by bittersweet farewells and a solemn promise to carry the spirit of the Myanmar mission in our hearts, wherever the call of service took us next.
A Continuing Mission
Today, the mission continues in new forms. The legacy of Kemandire and the service to the sick lives on through our ongoing prayers, international advocacy, and the local leaders whom we were privileged to journey with. We remain committed to the people of Myanmar, believing that the bonds of love formed in faith are eternal and will always find a way to serve peace and justice.
