A Continuing Mission
As Singapore evolves, our mission remains steadfast yet adaptive. We look to the future with hope, continually inviting volunteers and partners of goodwill to join hands with us. Together, we continue to shine the light of peace, justice, and human dignity into every corner of society.
Our Arrival in Singapore
Our story in Singapore began on 1 May 1953, when the first three Franciscan Missionaries of Mary arrived on the ship 'Tabian'. Invited by the Bishop, they found temporary shelter with the IJ Sisters before purchasing a property on Holland Road with the help of local friends. Settling into their first home, Maris Stella, was a challenge; they lived simply, using packing cases for chairs and beds for tables. Despite these humble beginnings, their mission flourished. They soon opened schools, mobile dispensaries for the poor, and provided vocational training and social services to meet the community's needs.
Our Communities in Singapore
Our sisters and volunteers live and work in small, vibrant fraternal communities spread across Singapore. These communities serve as sanctuaries of prayer, centers of active service, and hospitable spaces where anyone can experience the warmth of Christ’s unconditional love.
